DEFINITION
Under the direction of the Mayor, directs & manages Police Department operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Patrols Randolph, NE City limits to prevent, discover, and investigate crimes and maintain order. Responds to citizen inquiries & resolves difficult and sensitive complaints.
Locates, searches, detains, and arrests law violators. Interviews and questions victims, witnesses, and suspects as required by law, following police procedures.
Testifies in court to present evidence by describing conditions, situations, and actions.
Manages and participates in the development and administration of the Department’s budget.
Completes all training successfully as required annually. Effectively hires & manages part-time police officers.
Represents the Department to other City staff, elected officials and outside agencies.
Performs first aid and provides other assistance to accident and other victims.
Investigates causes and results of accidents. Directs and controls traffic & assists Fire Department on various calls. Issues written citations for traffic and other minor violations.
Inspects public establishments requiring licenses to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
Performs welfare checks and checks security of homes and businesses.
Attends and participates in monthly City Council meetings.
Establishes and implements maintenance program for department equipment and vehicles.
Assists with Code enforcement, as applicable, complies with all requirements of the employee handbook, and performs other duties as assigned.
JOB STANDARDS/SKILLS
- Possess thorough knowledge of modern principles & techniques of police administration, organization, and operation; police community relations; municipal budget preparation and administration; personnel management; pertinent laws, codes and regulations.
- Ability to enforce relevant laws and City ordinances; select, train, supervise and evaluate staff; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; is in good physical condition; exercise sound judgment and decision-making; maintain confidentiality.
- Must possess a current NE Law Enforcement Officer Certification, be at least 21 years old, hold a valid NE operator’s license, and have at least 3 years of law enforcement experience.

CITY OF RANDOLPH- UTILITIES EMPLOYEE- JOB POSTING
The City of Randolph is hiring for a full time employee for the City of Randolph’s Public Works Department, including: street, sewer, water, garbage, and city owned properties.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Public Works Supervisor to maintain and construct water distribution and waste water management systems, replace meters, read meters, and help with water service.
- Follow safety precautions of occupational hazards in the equipment and machinery.
- Work safely and productively in residential and commercial garbage pickup, mowing, watering, weed control, cleaning of bathrooms at city owned properties, road maintenance, snow removal, and deicing of roads.
- Assist in training of assigned seasonal employees, including use of equipment and safety practicies.
- Be on call for one weekend of the month for emergencies.
- Interact and communicate effectively
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED
- Class O license, Class B preferred
- Grade IV Water Operator Certificate (can be obtained within one year)
- Class 1 Wastewater Treatment Operator Certificate (can be obtained within one year)
- Live within 30 miles of Randolph, NE
- Pass background check
- Complete physical and drug screen
